I just set up a new imac which has Home and I see my Homepod. However is continues to show configuring (while playing music that i have no control over) Do I only control using my phone? Am I missing something?

See Set up and use HomePod mini and HomePod - Apple Support. An iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad is required to configure HomePod. Once set up the Home app on a Mac can be used to manage the device.

Maybe I'm just stupid, but I do not see how i control from my Mac. From the phone i can access anything i want. However from the Mac the experience is nothing like the phone. All it shows is Configuring, without access to playlists, controls, etc.
I had to reset the iphone and now it shows. Still from the Mac it seems as though i can only pause & play not access a playlist. Confusing.
Can HomePod be controlled by Home App on iMAc (not phone)
