How do I unlock my iMac if I forgot the password?

I tried recalling my password, but was unable to do so an it eventually locked me out.

iMac 24″, macOS 11.6

Restart in the Recovery Partition (Intel iMacs) by holding down Command + R on startup
Open Terminal (Hint, please look in the menus)
Type resetpassword and follow the on-screen prompts.
