How do you deal with a message on just my iPad that says this message cannot be read because of the way it is formatted

Also, is this happening in the Messages app or in Mail? If it's happening in the Mail app, are you unable to read any of the email messages or just ones from a certain sender? It only happens in my gmail account and only to some messages that I have saved for specific reasons. Doesn’t happen on my iPhone.
