Hello,
I have just received a brand new M1 iMac 24" with integrated Ethernet in the power brick. I am getting intermittent throughput and packet loss using a known solid Cat 5e cable. When I use the same cable plugged in to the Thunderbolt jack using a USB-C:Ethernet adapter, the problem goes away. I have received two new bricks and both have the same issue. Any other suggestions to troubleshoot?

It is a Netgear ProSafe switch. Checked for Firmware update and was delighted to see that there was a new version. Updated and now problem SOLVED! Thanks for the help with this! Kind of surprised that no one has seen this kind of issue before. Mybe others will benefit! :)

Cable is 1m. There is a switch. Then straight to fiber. Important to note is that the same cable, in the same port, with same switch, when connected through a usb c Ethernet, has perfect connection.
tried with both a 1 meter (3ft) and a 0.5 meter cable. Same result. I think it has to do with the brick. Looking for confirmation from Apple.
Just mentioned the dongle to demonstrate that connectivity exists from the port and through the switch.

Apologies, missed the length bit. Details on the switch please? What make/how is it connected to the router/what router/how long is the cable switch-router? Since the brick's already been replaced, it's likely something to do with your switch configuration.
How long is the cable? What’s it connected to? Any switches in between?

Nice! The Netgear switches can be bad boys, especially the 4 port ones. If the problem reappears, dump and replace with another make-model. All the best!
