Can't turn off Find My Mac

I want to turn off Find My Mac on my MacBook Air, I enter my Apple ID password and then it says is "trying to authenticate this user" and asks me for the password for that user but when I enter it it doesn't work. I´ve tried changing the password, but it still says is wrong.

Is there a way that I can fix this?

Hey there, and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Tsaurus-rex!

From our understanding, you’re unable to turn off “Find my” on your Mac. We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.

To start, let’s restart your computer and then follow the steps found here to remove the Mac from Find My: Remove a device in Find My on Mac - Apple Support

Kindest regards!

There was a chance you were not in an Admin user account.

If that were the case, the system would reject a lesser user.

[Some users run their Mac with two levels of accounts.]

To advance without knowing this factor, you may

just add a problem, over a pre-existing condition.

Any other 'known users' have access to that computer?

If so, ask. Or look into System Preferences in Users, to

see where they may be listed by user account name.

Good luck! ☺︎
