"Other" in Storage increases as I delete files and empty Trash.

I just upgraded from Mojave to Catalina and I noticed that the "other" in my storage has appeared to be big. I initially thought that it was just the system trying to identify some files after the update. The big problem here now is that the space that the "other" increases in is identical to the mb/gb that I empty in the trash. Which means that if I keep emptying un-needed files then I would be left with 0 gb of memory.

I have included an Etrecheck Report for this.

There are a few things amiss in your report..

..Make and retain adequate external backups

on at least one USB drive, with Time Machine.

Issues: ?!

CleanMyMac.

Bitorrent.

DrCleaner.

'Backup snapshots' to Mac SSD. oldest from Oct 2021

(~ No recent Time Machine backups?)

+Google Chrome?

[Brave is 'different' chrome; & better]

And some, may eat up more resources where few exist.

The storage before formatting on your SSD is little.

Then some may be useful, or not.

FaceBook Messenger.

Creative Cloud.

I see a few other suspects; on quick read-through.

[When you do make a good backup w/o junk ~ that

may be good time to consider a new macOS install.]

Most apps may include their own good uninstaller.

Some of those work adequately; re-scan to see.

The SSD in report suggests a 'condition of Failure' is likely.

The DriveDX utility may help. + How to use DriveDX utility.

..A tiny SSD in that configuration is not necessarily bad; I've

a MB/Pro similar build model year, may be your Mac's cousin..

[However mine has blade-type SSD 240GB -- lesser known.]

By only attempting to remove "Other" that will generate more.

Most of the items listed by that name are not user addressable.

Good articles about this "Other" have been posted to Apple Community.
