Word for Mac - recovering file that has been saved over

My iMac is running Monterey 12.1 and latest Word for Mac. I accidentally saved a new file over an old file, ie, with the old file's filename, then saved the new file with a new filename. How do I recover the old file?

Use your Time Machine backup to restore it. If you have not been backing it up, then it is history and you are about to learn a painful lesson on why backing up is absolutely critical.
