I am trying to cancel two subscriptions before they renew. I have opened the settings app, tapped on my name, I have tapped subscriptions. All it shows is to renew the subscriptions. I want to cancel both, I do not understand why it is so difficult to do.

You will only get the 'cancel' option if they are currently set to auto-renew i.e. they haven't already been cancelled or weren't set to auto-renew.
