When Saving From an App I get a Double Extension Type

macOS likes to hide file extensions from users which makes things very complicated especially since the behavior of the more recent versions of macOS has changed a bit in this regard. Most times if you add a file extension as you are saving the file, macOS will usually alert you that the file already has a file extension and will ask if you want to keep both file extensions or revert to the original/default file extension.

When saving the file, you need to see if you can uncheck the "Hide Extension" option located on one of the special drop down menus in the "Save As...." dialog box. This will reveal the hidden file extension the app may be applying to the file you are saving. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any way to keep this setting active all the time for every app. Some apps may retain this setting "Hide Extension" the next time you save a file in that particular app, but many apps will default to having that setting checked each & every time which is extremely aggravating as I want to make sure my files have the correct file extension. That is an option, but I hate seeing all the extensions for the app bundles and some other Apple files. I only want to see & save the file extensions for my personal documents. Unfortunately Apple does not consider people like me in their design decisions as seen by the very poorly implemented feature.
