Time Machine Creating New Backup Drive Every Backup

I don't know how to describe this, so here's a screenshot:



Every time a new backup happens, it creates a new file like this.


I recently used a new hard drive to start time machine backups from scratch (the old hard drive crashed), and now I see all these different backups.


Is this normal? What the heck is happening? lol


OS is macOS Monterey.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

I started a new ™ right on Big Sur right before upgrading to Monterey. MY ™ disk looks like
