Hi--my ipad will not send emails but my iphone will I tried changing the port number on ipad from 25 to 26 nothing works. Thank you Carol

You should only use standard port numbers unless your email provider advises you to do so. Port #25 is the standard SMTP port for sending email.


In common with many other Mail providers, Microsoft (and hotmail) now use App Specific Passwords to access IMAP or POP3 mailboxes. You have perhaps encountered this change.


The Mail App on each of your devices, such as your iPad, requires a unique password to be generated from within your Microsoft account. This App Specific password intentionally differs from your Microsoft account password - and can only be used to access your Microsoft mail.
