Music On Mac

Can Music be a usable program without a subscription service?

I understand if no one can answer this question because there is a lot to unpack and I'm simply frustrated and have no where left to go.

My 10yr old HP with iTunes works great with iTunes. My 2022 MacBook Pro is the worst experience I've ever had. (First time Mac owner).

All I wanted to do was take songs from my original iTunes account on my HP (a mix of purchased via iTunes and CD imports) and put them on my new comp, thus making my new comp my home for all that is my music and bid farewell to my HP.

I have no Apple Music nor iTunes Match.

I thought I would use OneDrive. Copied all my music files from the iTunes folder into OneDrive. Imported files into Music. Results? (All my iTunes purchases loaded into Music fine). Some music showed up, all albums had duplicates of every song including iTunes purchases, no album artwork except for iTunes purchases and there are no artist thumbnails for anything.

Tried deleting files, deleting songs.. I'm so lost. Sad.. disappointed.

Can't get iTunes back without reverting to older macOS. Music is fine on my iOS devices.

Hi,

You don’t need to subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match.
