Can I advance a clip to a specific time?
I have a long video that I am just removing segments from. I've been given the time intervals where these appear. What's the fastest way to find them?

Put your cursor on the playhead and drag it to the time points, using the counter at the top of the timeline. It might not be precisely accurate, but you can adjust as necessary.

I was hoping there was a command to "go to 54:16"
