MacBook Pro (M1 16") battery still drains to 80% when plugged into wall power.

My MacBook Pro is normally plugged into mains. The battery starts out fully charged but drops to 80% even if connected to wall power. Also the MagSafe cable LED is consistently orange rather than green even when the battery seems to be at 100%.

I'm running Monterey 12.2

Hardware, software or normal behavior? This becomes an issue when I want to take it off wall power to work on battery only.

You must have "Optimize Battery Charging" enabled as that is part of that feature. Keeping batteries charged to just 80% will maximize the battery life.
