How do you obtain a receipt of purchase for an Apple product you purchased years ago (in my case an iPhone 8). Yeah I know I should have kept the receipt.

It would depend on how you purchased it. If you purchased it at an Apple Store, contact that Store.
If you purchased online from Apple, contact the online store.
If you purchased from another retailer, then contact that retailer.
This is why when I purchase from Apple, I always have the receipt emailed to me so I can flag the email and move it to a special folder in my mail. They are all there. Just a suggestion.

I purchased a Mac laptop for my granddaughter last MAY FOR GRADUATION. SHE IS DOING HER TAXES BUT UNABLE TO FIND the invoice of purchase. Can you help me with this?
