reset ipad with findmy on without id

I let a family friend use my old iPad Mini 3 and now I am unable to get it to reset because they are unable to remember or find anything to do with their Apple ID. I would like to use this thing, but since FindMy was turned on before it was reset, I cannot.

How do I get this fixed? Is there anyway other than taking it into an Apple store and having it done?

You can make an appointment with Apple if you have the original Apple receipt for that iPad.

If not, you can't.
