Verify you are logged into the correct account, from the Apple in the upper left

See if they ended up in iCloud>Desktops and Documents

if by default iCloud Drive got turned on— look for your files there.

Finder>Go>Go to Folder>copy & paste:

~/iCloud Drive (Archive)

iCLoud Drive (Archive) - here you should find all your files
