cant remove payment debit card

Greetings!

I had the same issue & called Apple billing to have them remove my CC from my acct. Although there are adequate funds in my acct to pay for icloud storage for the next yr, they said there needs to be a payment method on file so they will not remove it. I plan to buy an Apple gift card & load it to my acct. in hopes I'll be able to remove my CC...not sure though.
