Here's what I want to do: I want to load 100+ music videos into a 1TB hard drive and put them into some kind of playlist, much like a music playlist in iTunes, and play them in order, or shuffled, and have them seen, on a loop, on a wide screen living room TV.
What do you think is the best way to do that? What app should I use and do you think it would be better to drive these videos out of a MacBook or iPad?

VLC allowed me to put videos into a playlist, adjust their order, and they automatically play the next in line. Which is great. The one thing I need to figure out is how to make sure each video plays full screen. Two came up smaller. If I want to drive these videos from an iPad I see that there is a VLC version for iOS. So, instead of putting all these videos (100+) on to a Mac laptop with connected external hard drive, I might buy a dedicated iPad with a lot of storage and connect to the TV via an Apple TV decide.

I tried with two videos, one HD 1080 and another one SD 720. Just after pressing play I put the video in fullscreen. Both were played in sequence in fullscreen. The SD video was automatically scaled to fullscreen.
