I am trying to reset my husband's iPad. My boys used it and they cannot remember the password. When I went through trying to resort it, it showed that the account was locked and needed activated. The apple ID is not any of our apple ID's.

I'm trying to restore my husband's iPad because my children have used it and changed the password and now don't remember it. I tried doing this and now when trying to set it up it shows the account is locked and to activate it, I have to put in a password for an apple id that does not belong to anyone in our family. The recovery phone numbers are also not ours. We bought this brand new. What do I do now?

Since you are the original owner, contact Apple. Apple can remove the ID  if provided the required paperwork to include the original purchase receipt with the serial number on it.

Request additional support for unlocking your device.    -

You used to be able to take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store (if it has reopened) and have them remove the ID. This may have changed, so call the store before going to make sure they can help.
