Adding a google mail account to mac mail

When i try to add a gmail account to my mac mail and after i choose provider a window opens and it goes into a do loop and nothing happens. Not sure how to fix

I am having troubles setting up gmail in Mail. Does any one had troubles setting up gmail in Mail in a MAC Pro? I had gmail in Mail for many years, but now is not working and when trying to reload it (from zero) my Mac gets stock. Basically it happens when I select GOOGLE as the provider.
