Hi, I’m not sure why my Apple TV is not functioning as it should. It’s up to date with the latest updates, but won’t connect my dstv account via the app like always and some of the functions just hang

If it's a specific issue with that app then try force quitting, and if that doesn't work reinstall. Any issue that still persists will then require investigation from the developer.
