I can not get my new phone will not get past preparing update, it’s been 4 hours now. I powered it off and after the initial questions it went back to download update, that took 45 mins and then it get to preparing update and it’s stuck there now. Of course I can’t do anything as it’s new. My old phone starts the process of transferring but it just spins & spins.

Your best option may be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store near you and let them look at it. If that is not possible use the online Apple Support option. Either way:
