I am trying to back up my iPad. I’m using WiFi. When reading “how to”, it says your screen needs to be locked, how do you lock the screen?
How do I lock my screen to accomplish a backup?

The screen isn't locked if you want to use the Backup Now option.
For automatic backups while the iPad is charging, either lock the screen with the top button or just let it lock itself based on the time you have chosen in Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.
