It's 2022. I read the communities' response to this issue in 2017, I'm wondering has anything changed....can you still not delete photos from your phone without having them also delete from the icloud? I'm confused, what is the point in buying all of that storage if it can't store extra things than our phones?

My goal is to keep videos on icloud, but delete from my phone. Thanks!

iCloud is a syncing service, for keeping the same content on all devices that share the same iCloud: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows PC with iCloud for Windows installed, or directly at https://icloud.com. It is not an archiving service. If you want an archiving service there are many; Google One, Google Photos, Dropbox, Box.com, Amazon Photos, Shutterfly, Livedrive, etc.
