i have an ipad and I forgot the password but in order to restore factory settings I have to update but cannot

The iPad 2 is an antique! If you have forgotten your Passcode, you will need to follow the instructions in this link...

If you forgot your iPad passcode - Apple Support

The process will erase the device. You will soon discover that there are very few apps that still run on such an old device.
