Download from Apple TV Library to iPad?

Hi -

I'm trying to download video files that are stored in the Apple TV library on my Mac. These are local files that I created (think home movies) on a drive connected to my iMac. They are not purchased content or copy-protected. I can play them on the iPad through home sharing, but I'd like to download them to iPad storage so that I can play them when I'm not on my local network (like on an airplane).

For the life of me, I can't find a way to do this. A million years ago, we'd plug the iPod/iPhone/iPad into the computer and sync them up. Is there an equivalent to this anymore?
