Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then select AssistiveTouch to turn it on.
Select Customize Top Level Menu, then tap an icon to reassign HOME button to its position.
Use it until you fix the hardware button

Apple's fix is to replace the entire front screen assembly, which would include a working home button.
