Migration Assistant

I'm trying to install my files to a new Mac and Migration Assistant will not accept the password on my old Mac. Help?

Then reset your password, please follow the steps in If you forgot your Mac login password

I'm sorry it's confusing, but it's confusing me too. I'm not tech savvy at all so please bear with me? I'm trying to set up my new Mac and transfer my data. It tells me to use the Migration assistant. When it asks me to enter my password (which works every time when I enter it anywhere else), this prompt won't accept it. I am running High Sierra 10.13.6 which is clearly very old but that's the best my current Mac can handle. Here is a screen shot:
