Purchased new via Amazon, Activation lock for wrong AppleID?!

I purchased a 2019 MBP from Amazon. I went to wipe the drive and it’s prompting me for an AppleID I’ve never seen. It’s like the device was refurbished, but sold new via Amazon? Has anyone encountered this? What are next steps?

Was it sold by Amazon, or an Amazon reseller? Either way, go to Amazon and start a return. You’ll never be able to use that device since it is locked to someone else’s AppleID.
