iMessages on iPhone won’t turn because iCloud and iMessage accounts are different

I’m trying to sync my iPad and iPhone messages. On my iPhone it says messages in iCloud not available because iCloud and iMessage accounts are different. Please help

Your Messages and iCloud sign-in are separate…


Your signed-in AppleID for iCloud is clearly shown here:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID]


The currently sign-in AppleID for Messages is much less obvious:

Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > [AppleID]


At the bottom of the iMessage settings page, you’ll see the Apple ID currently being used for Messages - highlighted in small blue text. To change your signed-in AppleID for messages, just tap the blue-link to expose an Action Menu.
