IPad turned on but screen remains black

Hi, for some reason my old iPad pros screen is black. I can still turn it on and it works, it’s touch screen is not broken but the screen stays black. I have tried force shutdown by holding the home button and the power button but it wont work. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have this same problem since yesterday with a first gen 11" ipad pro (A1980). Everything works on it *except* the colors on the screen. Touch works, backlight works, screen is black. I can see that the ipad works fine by hooking it up to an external monitor. When the display went black, yesterday, it went black from the edges to the center in about a second.

Still haven't found a solution. This post is the closest thing I've seen to my problem. I'm wondering if the connector came loose to the LCD screen internally. Will report on any resolution I find

Connect your iPad to its Power Adapter and allow the iPad to charge, undisturbed, for at least an hour. While still connected to external power, try a forced-restart:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If your iPad screen still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen. Or if your iPad isn’t working correctly after you restart it, see the iPad Support website.
