Removing payment method to download apps

What if I’m downloading an app that doesn’t require payment, but it’s still asking me to put in a payment method before I can even download the app? And when I do put one in I make sure it has no money because it keeps charging me 9.99 or 15.99. I don’t want to get charged just for downloading Instagram.

Unless you see a NONE option in the payment methods for your account details, most users must supply a FUNCTIONING payment method, even for free apps and redownloads.

Putting a non-functioning payment method into your account details will get you nowhere.

There is no charge for free apps. There is a charge eventually if you download a free trial app and do not cancel the trial subscription 24 hours before the trial ends.
