Preview App: adjust color tool is blank

In Preview, the Adjust Color tool is supposed to have a little rectangle where you can see the graph of the colors, and you can then slide the little houses at the bottom to play with the levels of an image.

Suddenly, the rectangle is all just plain white. The tool still works, but I don't have any visual reference. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. Can't tie it to any updates. It just started happening. Hasn't come back.

Any clues on how to restore it?

As already suggested Safe Boot.

If that still persists >>

1 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

2 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

3 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

4 - If after performing each of the above steps is the order that have been presents  and still have issues - please advise for possible further assistance.
