You can try the following steps

1. Go to Safari in the menu bar>click preferences
2. Go to the extensions tab. Look for anything related to search marquis
3. Select those extensions, and un-install them
4. Go to the general tab.
5. Change your homepage to a page you want to as homepage
6. Finally, go to the search tab and pick your preferred search engine.
