Am locked out of my computer saying :access to this pc been blocked for security reasons and asking me to call Apple Support *** (Security Helpline) is this a legit number or entity?

You can try using Malwarebytes (the free version) to scan your system- it's considered to be an effective and safe way to scan for malware - https://www.malwarebytes.com

No- this is a scam. Have you installed any dubious software lately? If this is just on your web browser, you can simply close the page. If it appears even when your browser is closed, it's some sort of malware on your Mac. Do not install any "Mac cleaners", least of all any software the popup recommends!


Apple/the FBI will never do this. The real Apple support number is 0800-222-427.
