Account recovery contact

Can I choose an account recovery contact that does not have an Apple device? For example if my contact has a samsung mobile phone can I still choose that person as a my account recovery contact?

According two the article below, you need an Apple device/computer to become a Recovery contact. From the article below.


Requirements to be a recovery contact


  • Your device must be running iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or macOS Monterey or later.
  • You must be over the age of 13.
  • You need two-factor authentication turned on for your Apple ID.
  • You need a passcode set up on your device.
