You can only locate a device that is either registered to your Apple ID, or if you were added to the "Find my friends" list of your daughter.

Finding Another's Phone by Surprise:

Why would you want to do that? If she has Find My on, then it will be found. So, rather than fiddle with it, I'd just let it set, and let her touch it. It has her settings,a dn I'm certain she would wont to be locked out.
