I'm suddenly not able to view the toolbar (normally on left side) in my Photos app on my Mac. I can only view it if I go into full screen mode. I don't see anything in the menu on top that would resolve that. Suggestions?

In that case, make sure the Photos App window is wide enough to accommodate the side bar. If it's too narrow, it will hide it.

Go to System Preferences->Dock & Menu Bar, and make sure "Automatically Show and Hide Menu bar on desktop" is not checked.
If it is checked you can move your mouse to the top of the screen to bring down the menu bar.
Thanks, but I think it was misleading that the subject of my question says "menu toolbar". I'm actually not having a problem with the menu bar. It's specifically the toolbar in my Photos app that has disappeared (the one that is usually on the left). It only shows up when I go into full screen mode, but previously was always visible.
