Does anyone know if the Beats Studio Buds will connect to play a sound from the Find My app if they’re still in the charging case?

Does anyone know if the Beats Studio Buds will connect to play a sound from the Find My app if they’re still in the charging case? My Find My app says they’re here in the house (which is where I last used them so may or may not be correct) but the Play a Sound feature is not working at all. I’m wondering if it’s 100% because they’re not actually here or if it’s possible they are here but won’t connect because they’re still in the closed charging case?
