Factory resetting series 2 watch

When I get to the step of pressing the Digital Crown button, “erase all content” option does not come up. My watch just asks me to enter my passcode. I’ve only ever used 1 four digit passcode since I’ve owned the Watch and it’s telling me it’s not correct. I’ve tried to reset through my the watch app but the watch didn’t actually reset. Now my phone is asking me to pair the watch which is not possible.
