Apple App Store

im having an issue where I’m signed into my apple App Store but when I go to buy an app that’s free or cost money it requires a password to sign in but I know I have don’t require password off for free downloads and I’ve monkeyed with a couple other password settings been having this problem for a couple months has this happened to anyone else if so please comment what you did to fix it
