iPhone Camera

With iPhone 12 models and later using iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About to see the parts and service history of your iPhone and you can see if the camera has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, you will see "Genuine Apple Part" next to Camera.

Parts and service history

With iOS 15.2 and later and iPhone XR, iPhone XS models, and later—including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)—you can go to Settings > General > About for the parts and service history of your iPhone. You can also find out if the battery has been replaced. If the replacement was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, "Genuine Apple Part" will appear next to Battery.

Do you have a disabled Face ID alert on your device?

Please read the "What to do Next" section in this link, if nothing works as per the instruction given in this link --> If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro

Yes it happens rarely but let's concentrate on your phone.

Assuming you have never had it repaired outside the Apple system, the message usually means that the camera has developed a fault, and if it is still under warranty it would normally be fixed free, unless there is evidence of damage (like you strapped it to your bike handlebars, or it got water inside.

Let's hope for the best however:-

First try a Forced restart Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

If no better you should arrange a repair iPhone Service & Repair - Apple Support

Or

 Contact - Official Apple Support

Anything other than Screen or Battery may be a replacement phone and the price is in the article under "Other damage"

Why Risk a Faulty Device?:

It may be a faulty deice, even if placed in there by Apple. So, if this is all new from Apple, contact them, requesting this be looked at. Rather than fiddle with its settings, see about getting this serviced. It may be a faulty Mac. You have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty on this. So, here is the Apple Support contact info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • What the Wait?: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due do lots of calls. And that makes sense because with the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much more time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through.
