Safari is upgraded when you upgrade macOS on your Mac if your Mac is not too old to be upgraded beyond what it is currently running.
Chrome is upgraded by clicking the "About Google Chrome" item on the Chrome menu. You can also download Chrome from https://www.google.com/chrome/downloads/ The current version requires macOS 10.11 or later.
The model year of a MacBook Pro is available at Apple menu > About This Mac.
