How to factory reset company iphone if the resigned staff did not reset the apple ids and passcodes?

My company resigned staff usually returned their company iPhones to our IT but often forget to tell us the Apple IDs & passwords & unlock passcodes. When our IT checked with them they might have forgotten or could not get in touch with them.

How our IT colleague can factory reset company these iPhones if the resigned staff did not reset the apple ids and passcodes and handing to us?

Thanks.

IF the devices are in MDM, the activation lock and passcode can be removed using the platform. If the devices are not in MDM, you will need to wipe the devices. If the lock is activation lock, you will need to have proof of purchase (Apple Business Manager enrollment serves as proof if you don't have the original receipts) to get Apple to assist with the unlock.
