time machine refusing to backup to disk

I recently bought a 1TB SSD and installed it inside my Mac, intending to use the extra space for things like time machine backups and boot camp. tonight, I tried to set up time machine, but it doesn't want to work.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

update: I just ran first aid in diskutil and it fixed the issue.. :\
