how to reset to factory settings

I got a new air mac and want to clear everything off my old one so I can give it to someone. How do I do that?

Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, instead of step 7, insert a compatible Mac OS X install DVD or connect its installation thumbdrive, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.
