Thank you so much
The model year of a MacBook Air is available at Apple menu > About This Mac.
A mid 2012 MacBook Air can be upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7 but no later. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support
Be aware that if you upgrade to Catalina you will also need to update any non-Apple 32-bit apps that you use. To identify those, see: https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/
Use the Numbers app -- see information in Intro to Numbers on Mac - Apple Support
(click the Table of Contents in that support article)
I don't have "numbers" on my mac
Numbers assumes reasonably up-to-date hardware and software. You're going to have trouble on a decade-old machine running an old operating system. If you need to do spreadsheets it's time to upgrade.😀

If you've done a search (magnifying glass in menu bar) and it doesn't find Numbers, try downloading it from the Mac App Store (Apple menu > App Store > Search - Numbers).
