In Mail my name has been replaced with someone else's

The name of someone I recently added to Contacts is now replacing my own name in all incoming Mail ie it is now associated with my email address. I have now deleted his contact card (which had wrongly decided his email address was my email address), deleted all mention of him in Contacts and clicked on Remove from Previous Recipients list. Still every time I get an email from anyone my email address shows as his name. Help!

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
