Getting Image Capture Error 9956 trying to backup iPhone 8 camera pictures to iMac

Getting Error code 9956 trying to back up lots of pictures from iPhone 8 to iMac running on OS Mojave 10.14.6.

Most odd is a picture 24hrs apart gets accepted without error and younger gets rejected.

Have already done the recommended placing of ImageCapture App with Full Disc Access in Privacy Settings.

Any other help greatly appreciated.

Of the 4000 images, only 952 were able to be backed-up, the rest rejected.

Should be set to download and keep origianls. If currently set to optimise storage, then you will need to wait for it to download everything from iCloud.

Note you will need enough spare space on your phone. If you don't have it, you can download to your mac directly from www.icloud.com

Thanks for the link simi. The Airdrop work around works so just proves this is a very annoying Apple Bug. I am able to airdrop a rejected photo with 9956 error and drag to my created folder in iMac Photos, it even flashes up a message that the pic has been successfully imported to Photos.

Will try a different cable as per Si-Apfelot and look at Airdrop on mass.... but this is just rubbish, absolute basics on connectivity between common brand devices.

Feel confident everything would work fine if I was paying for huge iCloud storage and uploaded there.

Really dissapointing this seems a genuine problem for multiple users and Apple aren't answering...just adds to my current disillusionment of all things Apple and I'm a very good customer owning all products from iMac to watches and everything in between. RIP Steve J but your fumes of leadership are waning
